Kiev refused agreements on stabilization of situation in Donbass

02:16, 26.02.2017

During a video conference of the Contact Group, the Ukrainian side refused agreements on the normalization of the situation on the contact line, including in the region of the Donetsk filtration plant. This was announced on the completion of the negotiations by Victoria Talakina, the spokesman for the head of the DPR delegation to the Minsk negotiations, Denis Pushilin.

‘The Ukrainian side has rejected even the most innocent agreements which arose during the dialogue of the parties. The withdrawal of equipment, agreed at the latest meeting of the Contact Group in Minsk and supported by the «Norman format» at the level of Foreign Ministers, has today turned out to be impossible. Calls for a ceasefire have also remained unheeded,’ she said.

According to her, the negotiations lasted four and a half hours, but ‘actually failed’ to achieve results on the problem of de-escalation of the situation in the area of the Donetsk filtration plant and the resumption of water supply to over half a million people on both sides of the contact line.

According to the latest data of the DPR command, the situation on the front sharply deteriorated over the past day. The number of opening fire on the territory of the Republic rose to 2,100 times. Near Donetsk, there was detected a cluster of Ukrainian heavy equipment. The latest OSCE report shows numerous instances of the withdrawal of the AFU weapons from storage sites agreed at the peace negotiations. In addition, today there was information about the seizure of DFP by the AFU, which had been shelled from Kiev-controlled Avdeevka the day before.
