This morning, the Donetsk filter plant came under fire, the filter building of the plant was damaged. 

‘At half past seven in the morning, the shelling started in the area of ​​the filter plant. At about the same time, there occurred the first hits at the station. The roof of the filter building was broken through. The filters themselves are not affected,’ reported the General Director of utility company «Water of Donbass», Oleg Mokry. 

The head of the company added that the shells hit had been also recorded near the tanks. Despite this, the station continues to operate.

‘The staff is in panic. The people hid in a shelter. Now we will try to calm them down and restore, if possible, the normal operation of the staff,’ he said. 

On February 21, the Donetsk filter plant was launched after three days of downtime. Previously, on 18 of the same month, a power failure at the plant was reported, as a result of the shelling. Repair teams worked on the restoration of the power supply for about two days. By the evening of the 20th, the plant was re-energized. 

The Donetsk filter plant is situated between Avdeevka and Yasinovataya. It provides water to localities on both sides of the front line. This is, above all, the city of Donetsk and Yasinovataya, the DPR-controlled localities Vasilyevka and Spartak, and Avdeevka, Krasnogorovka and Verkhnetoretskoye, which are currently occupied by the AFU. 

During the conflict, the plant has repeatedly come under fire, as a result of which its work has had to stop.
