Poroshenko looking for «protection» in US White House

Unlike the majority of Ukrainian experts, pessimistically evaluating the prospects for the US further protection, Poroshenko radiates optimism. The other day, he announced the emergency meeting with Donald Trump.

‘I was one of the first world leaders whom Trump called immediately after the election. We had a promising dialogue and agreed the date of my visit to Washington immediately after the inauguration,’ Poroshenko boasted in an interview with Bloomberg TV channel.

Poroshenko’s motifs for such pathos statements are quite clear. As always, he is playing for the audience and trying to convince the Ukrainians that «America is with us». In fact, the Ukrainian president needs a mere trifle from Donald Trump. In the bandit 90th, this little service could be called a magic word «protection». At that time, the bazaar huckster needed the «protection» from extortion of stray gangs. Poroshenko needs a «protection» to fend off competing oligarchic groups.

Poroshenko owes nearly three years of quiet life exclusively to the Obama administration support. Even such a foolhardy character as Bennya Kolomoisky was aware that rebelling against Poroshenko was like rebelling against America. You would be instantly deprived of your property, your accounts would be arrested and you would become internationally wanted for a lot of well-known crimes. People dramatically impoverished as a result of the reforms, also limit themselves to obscene abuse of the authorities in their kitchens. The Ukrainians realize that the American patrons will turn a blind eye to any crime of ‘their son of a bitch’. No one wanted to join the «heroic Heavenly Hundred».

For the sake of the American «protection», Poroshenko is ready to do anything for Donald Trump. If the latter orders him to fight with Russia, he will. If he asks him to sell the Ukrainians in debt slavery for a hundred years, he will as well. The only trouble is that Trump does not need anything at all from Poroshenko. Neither Poroshenko, nor Ukraine interest the new American president, because they are a failed project.

In fact, the US interest in Ukraine began to fade a couple of years ago. It is not surprising, because the «Independent» had turned out to be unable to become an effective tool to put pressure on Russia. The question where the Crimea belongs, was answered at the beginning. The Kremlin was well aware that the Ukrainian Crimea is not only the Crimea with repression against the Russian people, but also with NATO bases. Ukraine also failed to draw Russia into a full-blown conflict. The «occupation» of the «Independent», with all the negative consequences for Russia, just did not take place. In order to somehow justify this «misunderstanding», Ukrainian propagandists had to invent a completely idiotic myth of a «hybrid war», during which diplomatic relations are not allegedly broken off, traffic is preserved and businesses of the «aggressor country» operate as if nothing had happened. The Ukrainians were satisfied with this explanation: we fight a hybrid war, and in between go to work in Russia.

The sanctions imposed by the West did not make the proper impression on the Kremlin either. They only united the Russian society and allowed the government to carry out the necessary and traditionally unpopular reforms. In fact, owing to the sanctions, the Russian authorities have conducted an operation to oust imported products from the market. The consequences of this step will be seen later, but today we can sincerely thank Barack Obama for a good pretext for the Kremlin to support the Russian producer.

In addition, the sad results of the «revolution of dignity» have become a great vaccination for the Russians against the Ukrainian disease, the «Maidan of the brain». Today, only the Ukrainians stoned with propaganda, can dream of a change of the power in Russia. In reality, after the Euromaidan «victory», a color revolution in Russia is virtually impossible. In addition, the unstable situation in Ukraine has allowed Moscow to speed up the construction of alternative gas transportation routes to Europe. Upon commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream, Kiev is losing its leverage over Moscow through its GTS (Gas Transport System).

Now, I want to once again repeat the question of what Poroshenko can offer to the new American president? A headache, such as Ukraine? Trump is not that naive to agree to take on the responsibility for the failures of his predecessor.

Apparently, the Ukrainians still have not realized why Obama avoided personal meetings with Vladimir Putin. It had nothing to do with his antipathy. In face-to-face negotiations, the incredible nonsense about the virtues of the American democracy does not work. You have to talk specifically and answer specific questions, of which Vladimir Putin has accumulated a great many on the situation in Ukraine. Could Barack Obama have admitted that, as a result of the US arranged coup, the power in Kiev was seized by neo-Nazis, and it is them responsible for all the crimes committed in the country?!

Some experts believe that Donald Trump can ‘give in» Ukraine to Putin in exchange for geopolitical concessions in other directions. Perhaps, Trump would like to do it, but Vladimir Putin has repeatedly proved by his actions that he neither sells the national interests of Russia nor betrays his allies. Obviously, it is about about allies, but not hypocrites like Yanukovych. The Ukrainians are not facing an «exchange» for Syria and China. Donald Trump will no longer provide support to Ukraine solely because of his own lack of interest in it.

Poroshenko may, of course, meet with Trump, but this meeting is unlikely to be pleasant for him. Judging by all the previous statements of the new occupant of the White House, he is used to calling a spade a spade. The Crimea is part of Russia, and no power can change this reality. Trump does not care about sanctions against Russia either, as it is the Europeans who suffer from them, to begin with. It's their headache, and Trump is not obliged to treat it. There is no point in America supporting Poroshenko’s financially corrupt regime either. After all, Trump is well aware of the oligarch Poroshenko’s millions derived to offshore. In fact, Trump had better not to communicate with representatives of the current regime in Kiev, because it adversely affects his reputation.

When Poroshenko announced his would-be meeting with Donald Trump, I remembered a joke told by the president of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Anatoly Aleksandrov.

‘In 1916, my sister got involved in spiritualism. In troubled times, there are always such hobbies. Once my father said, addressing them, ‘I can believe that you can call up the spirit of Lev Tolstoy or Anton Chekhov, but I will never believe that he talked with you, fools, for 2 hours!’.

Something similar can be said about Poroshenko’s meeting with Trump. It can be held, but it is impossible to find a practical sense in it.
