Donetsk Situation Report, 20.03.2017

The situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic, despite the decrease in the intensity of the shelling by the Ukrainian artillery, remains tense.

Over the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine violated the ceasefire 39 times. The most intense fire impact of the enemy, with weapons prohibited by the Minsk Agreements, was applied to the following localities: Yasinovataya, Yakovlevka, Dokuchaevsk, Kominternovo, Bezymennoye, Leninskoye, Sakhanka, Spartak, the area of the airport and the Petrovsky district of Donetsk city. In total, the AFU shelled 13 localities of the Republic, with 122 and 152mm artillery, tanks, 82 and 120mm mortars, as well as infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, anti-aircraft systems, grenade launchers and small arms.

As a result of the AFU shelling, there were damaged two residential houses in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk city, N 41 in Lyotchikov St and N 1 in Lazo St.

In the shelling of our positions one soldier of the People’s Militia was wounded.

According to our intelligence, in the area of the locality of Dzerzhinsk arrived a group of officers from the troops command of radiation, chemical and biological protection of the Armed Forces, numbering up to 10 people. The purpose of the group's work is to assess possible disruptions in the operation of the phenolic plant premises, since the Armed Forces units are located on its territory, together with equipment and ammunition.

We continue to record non-combat losses among the AFU military. In particular, in the area of the locality of Dzerzhinsk, in the 72nd separate mechanized brigade, as a result of an armed conflict with nationalist battalions, there were killed four soldiers. In addition, in the 3rd battalion of the 80th separate assault brigade, located in the zone of responsibility of the 72nd brigade, there were wounded three soldiers. The reason for the shootings was the redistribution of control over zones of smuggling flows. These facts are hidden from the public, so as not to discredit the military command.

Our units continue combat training.

In particular, the training is conducted to bring them to the highest degrees of combat readiness, as well as training with special forces units to counter the enemy's subversive groups.
