The President of Ukraine only pretends to agree to hold the elections in the DPR and LPR, which Kiev is obliged to accept in accordance with the agreements signed in Minsk.

It was stated by  Roman Bessmertny, the former representative of Ukraine in the Minsk contact group, when he commented on the recent statement by President Poroshenko on the possibility of holding the elections in Donbass this year.

'I would divide it into several components. The first is what he voices to foreign partners. The next is what he voices in the country. That's one part. Another part is issues related to strategy. When you hear every day that the elections will take place next month,you should answer, 'Well, perhaps, not in a month but at the end of the year'.
