Deputy of Kiev City Council called to whip schoolchildren for Russian language

02:44, 26.05.2017

The deputy of the Kiev City Council from the party «Svoboda» («Freedom»), Igor Miroshnichenko, called for introducing corporal punishment in schools for using the Russian language.

The host of the show on the «112 Ukraine» TV channel told Miroshnichenko that teachers and educators very often communicated with children in Russian, and asked how to deal with this.

‘What, do we need to come back to whips?’ she asked the deputy.

"Sometimes it is possible to come back to whips, because if in a Ukrainian-language school teachers allow themselves to speak Russian, then they show a bad example for children,’ the deputy replied.

In Ukraine there is an ongoing discussion about the possibility of using the Russian language in the country, which is spoken by a very large percentage of the population.

The day before, the Verkhovnays Rada MP, Igor Mosiychuk, even cited Adolf Hitler's policy on the territory of Ukraine during the Second World War as an argument: the Germans spoke with local residents in both Ukrainian and Russian.
