Urgent statement of LPR People’s Militia

19:20, 23.04.2017

Today, while two OSCE SMM crews were moving along the route Slavyanoserbsk-Sokolniki village, in the area of Prishib village, one of the observer vehicles was blown up on an anti-tank mine, which resulted in one representative of the mission killed, and another wounded.

The LPR has repeatedly warned the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) about the need to comply with the mandate and agree on patrol routes.

The activities of subversive groups have already gone beyond all permissible limits and begun to undermine vehicles with the OSCE patrols. This undermining also clearly demonstrates that Ukraine will take advantage of the incident in order to raise again, in the near future, the issue of entering foreign military missions into the LPR.

On behalf of the LPR People's Militia command and our own, we offer our condolences to the families of the deceased observer and the injured mission members.

We hope that the representatives of the OSCE SMM, JCCC and other international organizations will give an objective assessment of the incident.
