Kiev has not confirmed readiness to largest exchange of prisoners

01:46, 06.10.2016

Kiev has not confirmed the readiness of the largest in the history of the conflict in Donbass prisoner exchange, which was earlier offered by the DPR. It was reported by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the DPR, Daria Morozova.

‘Unfortunately, the largest disappointment is the unwillingness of the Ukrainian side to fulfill its obligations. We hoped to receive the positive response of the Ukrainian side in the matter of prisoners exchange, but this has not happened,’  said the Ombudsman of the Republic.

Morozova reminded that the fifth and sixth paragraphs of the Minsk Complex of Measures, which deal respectively with the amnesty and the release of prisoners, has not yet been implemented as the Ukrainian side ‘is still delaying the implementation of these paragraphs’.

‘For all the time since the last meeting in Minsk, we have not received the official written confirmation on an exchange of prisoners according to the formula «all for all» by the authorized representatives of the Ukraine. We could have budged on the issue of «all for all» exchange, and all our illegally held people could have returned home long ago,’ summarized the Commissioner for Human Rights.
