The Ukrainian Defense Ministry explains the presence of armored vehicles in Avdeevka by creating the operational reserve in the event of the enemy breakthrough. According to the military, the Ukrainian military equipment delivered to the front line in the zone of the military operation in Donbass, does not take part in hostilities. 

‘In connection with the spread by certain Internet resources of the information about the alleged delivery of tanks to the contact line, the press center of the ATO headquarters reports that mentioned armored vehicles are in the operational reserve of the Ukrainian troops in order to adequately respond in the event of the enemy attempts to break through the defense of the Ukrainian troops,’ says their statement. 

Previously, the observers of the OSCE Special Mission (OSCE SMM) confirmed the facts of the movement of tanks and howitzers in the Avdeevka area. 

The presence of tanks and howitzers in Avdeevka became known on 29 January. 

In recent days, the situation in Donbass has deteriorated. Residential areas of Avdeevka were shelled with artillery.
