A number of signs indicates that in Donbass, despite the declared cease-fire, the situation is developing into full-scale hostilities.

It was said by Ruslan Bortnik, the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, at a press conference in Kiev.

‘The case against Plotnitsky and Shoigu, who Kiev is trying to put on trial, the expansion of the US sanctions against Russia, all these elements just do not fit in the attempt to achieve peace. These are elements that are more like an attempt to disrupt or complicate the negotiations, raise the degree of escalation,’ said the expert.

The political scientist is also skeptical about the declared regime of silence in Donbass, indicating that it is unlikely to last more than a few days.

‘I think if the Chinese meeting of the presidents ends in nothing, we can expect an escalation of the conflict this year, by type of Debaltsevo and the airport,’ predicted Bortnik.
