Ukrainian Ministry of Energy demands to ban coal from Russia in favor of American anthracite

01:34, 20.04.2017

The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine demands that the government of the country prohibit the import of coal from Russia, justifying the possibility of more profitable purchase of anthracite from the US, said the head of the Ukrainian Ministry, Igor Nasalik.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine submitted to the government a document banning the import of coal from Russia. According to Nasalik, Ukraine should sign a contract for the supply of coal from an anthracite group with the United States.

‘It is profitable for logistics, we will win about 60 percent of logistics from there, plus there is an interesting price there. They told us that they are now ready to supply 300-350 thousand tons per month, this is from 3.5 to 4 million tons per year. If we agree on this contract, then we will not need all the others,’ the Ukrainian media quoted him.

Earlier, at the NSDC meeting, the Ukrainian President Poroshenko raised the issue of confiscation of coal mined in Donbass.
