The OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna extended the mandate of the monitoring mission on the Russian-Ukrainian border for another three months, until January 31, 2017.

‘The mission's mandate remains unchanged. Acting in accordance with the principles of impartiality and transparency, the observers will monitor and report on the situation at the two Russian checkpoints, as well as on the movements across the border,’ says the statement on the OSCE site.

The observers will be posted at the checkpoints Donetsk and Gukovo on the Russian side of the border.

The decision to deploy the mission was taken on July 29, 2014. Currently, the mission consists of 20 observers.
