In «Ukrainian» Donbass miners have gone on strike

00:18, 05.05.2017

Miners of five mines of the Krivoy Rog Iron Ore Plant, located in the Kiev-controlled part of Donbass, declared a strike, demanding an increase in salaries to the same level as before the victory of EuroMaidan.

‘The whole night shift of the mines Rodina, Gvardeyskaya, Ternovskaya and Krivbassshakhtoupravlenie, as well as 10 miners of the Oktyabrskaya mine, have not gone up to the surface! Miners demand a rise in wages. Miners understand that recently, the funds have not been allocated for the development of enterprises, only their resources have been squeezed out,’ said the head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners, Mikhail Volynets.

The administration tries to explain the protesters' actions by political motives, because it considers the salary level to be high enough, and threatens the participants of the action with various penalties, up to the closure of one of the mines and the dismissal of its employees, and thus raise in the salaries of workers of the other three mines. The miners were outraged by the management's statement that the protest had been paid by Russia,’ Volynets added.

It should be noted that Volynets, who criticizes the government today, is a former Verkhovna Rada MP from Yulia Tymoshenko's party. Volynets took part in the coup d’etat, Euromaydan, which resulted in the civil war and devastation in the economy of Ukraine.
