Dutch Prime Minister's statement upset Kiev

17:59, 03.07.2016

The chances of ratification of the agreement on association of Ukraine with the EU in the parliament of the Netherlands are small, and the solution of this problem has not been found.

It was stated by the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte on the first day of the EU summit in Brussels.

'What we need is a legally binding solution that will solve a lot of problems revealed during the discussion on the outcome of the referendum. What form such a solution will take, I do not know yet. This may be a change in the text, or we may find a solution that will not change the text of the Association Agreement. If I can not achieve this, and I have said it to my colleagues, we will not sign the document. It is quite obvious,' said Rutte.

'It will be difficult, the chances that we will achieve this are small, but we should try to do it,' he added.

In April of this year, at the referendum in the Netherlands, the majority of citizens of this country opposed the ratification of the agreement on association with Ukraine.
