On May 21, at about 15:00, the power unit N 1 of the Zaporozhye NPP was turned off by the automation. The reason for the shutdown is unknown, specialists are working on the site. This was reported by the press service of NAEK Energoatom. 

‘At the moment, 3 power units are operating at the Zaporozhye NPP. The total power of the generators is 2,670 MW. There are no comments on the work of the main equipment of existing power units and personnel,’ the report says. 

They also specified that the radiation background in the vicinity of the Zaporozhye NPP and in the sanitary protection zone (the area around the NPP with a 2.5 km radius) is 8-12 micro-roentgen per hour, which corresponds to the natural radiation background. 

In April, it was also reported about the shutdown of the power unit at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
