The Head of the Lugansk People's Republic, Igor Plotnitsky said at a press conference that Kiev had not stopped the purchase of coal from the territories of the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics.

‘Ukraine has not stopped buying coal from the LPR and DPR. The only matter is that it's always depended on the condition of our relationship: sometimes it was a little less, sometimes a little more,’ said Plotnitsky.

According to him, the main stream of coal to the territory controlled by Kiev comes from the DPR, partly from the LPR. Plotnitsky suggested that Kiev might be able to do without the coal of the Republics only if it pre-loads all the stocks in the country with black fuel.

‘Another most likely option is for Kiev to spend a little more than a billion UAH to convert all power plants for coal different from that of Donetsk or Lugansk origin,’ Plotnitsky said.
