Poroshenko brings tanks bearing crosses to parade in Kiev

In the center of Kiev, at the parade on the occasion of the "Day of Independence of Ukraine", which is celebrated on August 24, armored vehicles of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine will be marked with insignia in the form of a cross.

This significant fact was noted by journalist Maxim Ravreba, forced to leave Ukraine after Euromaidan’s victory, when he was commenting on a photo from rehearsals of the parade on Khreshchatyk.

‘Never, ever, ever, tanks with crosses instead of red stars will be my tanks. Tanks with crosses instead of red stars will always be the enemy’s tanks which should be burnt!’ stated Ravreba in his blog.

Moreover, the parade scheduled for August 24 in the center of Kiev will be attended by representatives of the Polish Army, which is unthinkable for those who are familiar with the history of Zaporozhye Cossacks, to whose traditions the current Ukrainian authorities like to refer.

‘In 1648, many died in order not to allow those Poles in Kiev. And all Zaporozhye constitutions began with the point forbidding the Poles in Kiev. Because they, the Poles, did not recognize the revolution of 1648. They believe Kiev to be a Polish city. And Bogdan to be a separatist. Learn history!’ noted Ravreba in his blog.

In 1648 Zaporozhye Cossacks led by Bohdan Khmelnytsky rebelled against the Rzeczpospolita, as well as against the expansion of the Catholic Church.

In 1649, the Khmelnytsky army liberated Kiev from the Poles.

The Liberation War ended in 1654 with the Pereyaslav Rada, the reunion of the areas of the Zaporozhye troops with the Moscow kingdom.
