A preliminary vote in the People's Republic of Donetsk is scheduled for October 2nd. It was announced by Oleg Balykin, the press attache of the Provisional Election Commission, at a briefing.

‘At its meeting on September 1, 2016, the Provisional Election Commission decided to set a date for a preliminary vote in the election of candidates for deputies of local councils and local heads for October 2, 2016,  and establish the city of Donetsk as a venue for the primaries,’ he said.

Balykin added that the process of nominating candidates for the primaries would begin in the DPR on September 9.

‘The nomination of candidates to participate in early voting and presentation, by these candidates to the territorial election commission, of notifications of self-nomination with the accompanying documents are to be carried out from 10:00 on September 9, 2016, to 18:00 on September 13, 2016, inclusive,’ said the press attache of the Provisional Election Commission.
