The USA will not recognize the results of elections to the State Duma, which will be held on the territory of Crimea. It was announced by Marie Yovanovitch, the US ambassador to Ukraine, in an interview with "The European Pravda».

‘Once again, I will explain the US position: The Crimea is and will always remain a part of Ukraine, in spite of all possible legal actions from the Russian side. We will never recognize the Crimea as a part of Russia. We will not either recognize the elections to the State Duma, which are to take place on the territory of the Crimea,’ said Jovanovic.

Earlier, the Ukrainian leader Poroshenko urged the United States and the European Union not to recognize the results of the vote in the Crimea. Kiev also sent Moscow a note about the impossibility of holding the vote in the parliamentary elections on the territory of Ukraine.

The spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that Moscow does not intend to discuss the electoral process on its territory with any country.

The elections to the State Duma will be held on September 18. In the Crimea and Sevastopol, the elections will be held for the first time, with about 1.8 million people in the region having the right to vote.
