The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Alexander Turchynov said that in 2017 the Armed Forces of Ukraine would start the «liberation» of Donbass. He made this statement, speaking to the soldiers of the National Guard in the Kiev region.

‘This is the first year when Ukraine has not lost a single meter of its territory. All attempts to move forward, to break through our defenses in 2016 were doomed,’ said Turchinov, whose statement was published by the TV channel «112 Ukraine».

The NSDC Secretary also said that the «enemy» had allegedly suffered «heavy losses» and the AFU had improved their positions. 

‘Meter by meter, we are beginning to liberate the occupied territories. I am convinced that 2017 will be a watershed in this regard,’ said Turchinov.

It is worth noting that the latest attack the APU made on the LPR positions near Debaltsevo, turned into a complete disaster for the Ukrainian forces. The Kiev divisions, according to the LPR, lost about 40 men killed and retreated to their original positions.
