01:46, 13.04.2017

The Ukrainian government approved a bill on the termination of all laws, acts and resolutions of the times of the USSR.

The project was sent to the Verkhovnaya Rada. The date of its consideration has not yet been announced.

‘We have drafted a law on recognition of acts of the bodies of state power and the administration of the Ukrainian SSR and the Soviet Union as those have lost their force. We will send this law to the parliament and we will ask that it be voted in May. The law defines very clear norms that suspend the operation of a large array of normative acts of the Soviet Union and the Ukrainian SSR. There are about hundreds of such acts,’ said the Minister of Justice, Pavel Petrenko.

According to Petrenko, the draft law proposes to introduce a norm that will determine that all normative acts adopted by the Independence Day of Ukraine, will lose force. Within 6 months from the moment the law comes into force, all subordinate acts of ministries and departments, commissions, presidiums by the day of proclamation of independence, will cease to exist.

In addition, within a year from the date of the law’s entry into force, all laws of the Ukrainian SSR and the Soviet Union in force on the territory of Ukraine, will cease to exist, and within three years, all codified acts of the Ukrainian SSR will cease to exist.
