Ukraine brings international lawsuit against Russian abuse of friendship treaty

Ukraine has prepared a lawsuit in an international court against Russia for violating the treaty of friendship. This was stated by the Deputy Foreign Minister Ukraine, Vadim Pristayko.

‘There is the so-called big treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and Russia. It is written in it that Russia respects the territorial integrity and the inviolability of the existing borders. Now we take this article to the international court. We have been preparing a corresponding lawsuit for a year, now this preparation is over,’ said Pristayko.

According to him, Russia does not comply with this article of the contract, so it ‘has what to be tried for’.

The treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Russia and Ukraine was signed on May 31, 1997.

In October, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Moscow would not denounce the treaty of Friendship with Kiev, as the development of friendly relations between the two countries and peoples was still a priority.
