The Verkhovnaya Rada registered a draft resolution on the appeal of Ukraine to the United Nations with a call not to recognize the elections to the State Duma of Russia, because they were held in the Crimea, which Kiev considers its territory, as well as in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

It was announced by an MP of the Verkhovnaya Rada, Maxim Bourbak, at a meeting of the conciliatory council of the parliament.

‘The elections are insignificant from the international legal point of view. This is our position, which was declared by the leader of «People's Front», Arseny Yatsenyuk. We do not accept this farce.

With our colleagues, we registered a decree №5135 which provides for the non-recognition of the results of the election held on the temporarily occupied territories of Georgia and Ukraine. We ask the President to raise the issue at the UN General Assembly.

The Ukrainian delegation to the United Nations must take all possible measures for the international non-recognition of the illegal parliamentary elections in Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must undertake the same work with the relevant international organizations and parliamentary assemblies. This farce is impossible to accept,’ said the Ukrainian MP.
