Servicemen of rear services units kidnapped in LPR

21:25, 27.06.2017

Statement by Lieutenant-Colonel A. Marochko, representative of the LPR People’s Militia

On June 24, a Ukrainian subversive group of the Special Operations Forces infiltrated the territory of the Lugansk People's Republic and on the Bahmut track attacked a group of servicemen of the rear services, who delivered food to the personnel.

As a result of the attack, two servicemen were brutally killed. Before their death, they were subjected to severe torture. The inspection of the bodies showed the presence of more than ten stab wounds.

Four survivors of the People's Militia were kidnapped. According to available information, now they are in the SBU dungeons. They are subjected to inhuman psychological and physical pressure.

To make them admit that they allegedly are Russian servicemen, attempts are being made to force them to a false confession by influencing their next of kin.

Their families are also being blackmailed. Unidentified persons call relatives of kidnapped soldiers and intimidate them, stating that their only chance to save their loved ones is to come to the territory of Ukraine and publicly confirm that captured soldiers are regular servicemen of the Russian army. Relevant documents allegedly confirming their Russian citizenship, which will need to be shown to foreign journalists, are promised to be given to the relatives on the spot.

To break our soldiers and force them to repeat the lie that Poroshenko told the French president, the punishers do not stop at anything.

Until today, we have done everything to resolve this situation without attracting public attention. By mutual agreement, via volunteer organizations, we arranged with the Ukrainian side the exchange of prisoners and agreed to not make the process public. However, at the last moment, the Ukrainian side refused the exchange.

We officially declare that the kidnapped servicemen are citizens of the LPR and are called up for service by the military commissariats of the Republic.

Making the incident public, we call on all concerned organizations to pay attention to the inhuman provocation committed by the Kiev authorities and their next attempt to deceive their foreign partners.

I would like to appeal to international human rights organizations for help in the return of the People’s Militia servicemen captured by the Kiev special services.
