Trial of the coup in Ukraine held in Moscow

02:20, 17.12.2016Politics

On December 15, in Moscow, there was held a hearing on the case on recognition of the coup in Kiev in 2014.

The former deputy of the Verkhovnaya Rada, a member of the Ukrainian Rescue Committee, Vladimir Oleynik appealed to the court at his place of residence with the claim for recognition of the events in Ukraine in February 2014, as a coup d'état. He insists that Yanukovych was deposed by the illegal decision of the Parliament, as the motivation stated in it is not provided by the Constitution.

The former President of Ukraine, Victor Yanukovich participated in the hearing.

‘Having received an invitation to this court, I could not refuse. From my point of view, it is very important that the people of Ukraine, Russia, and the entire international community hear the truth about the events of almost three years ago in Ukraine,’ said Viktor Yanukovych.

Europe will, sooner or later, change its position in relation to the Ukrainian authorities and assess soberly what the country has achieved under the new leadership, emphasized Vladimir Oleynik.

‘I think Poroshenko also understands his position today, because this document will be read in Europe sooner or later. There is going on a change of elites which will give up their principles - that this is a son of a bitch, but he's our son of a bitch. He was chosen by the present ones, and now they are being replaced. Others will come, those who will say, ‘Sorry, we would like to see what you have supported in Ukraine,’ said Oleynik after the court hearing.

'What else should happen in Ukraine, to call it a coup? There was a seize of power by force, there was a really unconstitutional change in the Parliament, the Constitution was trampled, the President was removed illegally, the authorities were formed illegally, there was a literal sabbath of the judicial system which has been destroyed until today,’ added the politician.
