«ATO veterans» stormed City Council building in Kiev

23:41, 01.06.2017

Soldiers of the nationalist battalions broke into the Kiev City Council, demanding the granting of status of combatants and the ATO. This status gives them benefits for travel, medical treatment and communal services.

Earlier, at the session, the decision to recognize their official status was not put to the vote as a whole. Deputies of the Kiev Rada adopted this decision as a basis, but the proposal of the representative of the «Svoboda» («Freedom») party, Yuri Sirotyuk, who insisted on its adoption as a whole, was not supported.

The extremists began a scuffle with the guards of the mayor's office, who were standing at the entrance to the meeting room of the Kiev City Council. The deputy of the City council, Vladimir Nazarenko, tried to take the protesters to the session hall, but the police officers beat him.

Later, the mayor of Kiev, Vitaly Klichko, proposed to finalize the document and adopt it as a whole at the next meeting of the City Council.
