The Military Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine has initiated a criminal investigation into the sale of coal mined in the DPR and LPR. This was reported by the press secretary of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Larisa Sargan. 

‘A number of sites posted materials from which it becomes clear that under the general guidance of Kurchenko (businessman Sergey Kurchenko), officials and other persons of a number of economic entities have been purchasing illegally mined coal in the territory of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions in 2017,’ she wrote on her social network page. 

She noted that coal exported to Russia is also sold in other countries. According to Sargan, ‘the actions of Kurchenko, officials and other persons of a number of economic entities, show individual signs of a criminal offense’.
