Statement by DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko

21:46, 13.09.2016Politics

It is the third year that the Kiev regime, having unleashed the civil war, is demonstrating its lack of interest in the peaceful settlement of the armed conflict in Donbass. Verbally expressing their desire for peace, the Ukrainian authorities do not take any efforts to stop the hostilities.

We keep our word. As promised, since September 1, we have strictly abided by the cease-fire, despite the daily provocations by the enemy.

We have chosen a policy of peaceful resolution of the conflict with the Ukrainian authorities. In confirmation of these words, the Donetsk People's Republic makes another step towards the reconciliation and initiatively establishes a «quiet mode».

I have signed an order and given appropriate instructions to all commanders of the DPR units and formations to ensure a full and unconditional cease-fire, for all types of weapons, at 00:00, on the night from 14 to 15 September.

I urge the Ukrainian authorities to join our peace initiative, and, in fact, not in words, prove their commitment to respect the Minsk Agreements.

I also want to warn our enemies. The peace initiatives, demonstrated by the DPR authorities, are not a manifestation of our weakness. The Republic is ready to repel any acts of aggression.

I hope that the Ukrainian side is aware of the whole burden of responsibility and will honor its commitments within the framework of the Minsk Agreements.

We appeal to the OSCE Mission and the Joint Centre for Coordination and Control to ensure the independent control of the implementation of these commitments.

The Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic
