The International Joint Investigation Team (JIT) concluded that the Boeing MH-17 had been shot down over Ukraine in July 2014 from the ground. It was announced by Fred Vesterbeke, the head of the team and the Dutch public prosecutor, at a press conference.

In addition, according to the Dutch TV company NOS, the international team of investigators believes that the anti-aircraft missile system "Buk", from which the Boeing was downed, was brought from Russia. According to the NOS data, the document states that the fire on the aircraft was opened from the area of the locality Pervomayskoye, after which the anti-aircraft missile system "Buk" was allegedly returned to the Russian Federation.

Gilbert Paulissen, the head of the police investigations department of the Netherlands: ‘The JIT believes that the launch of the «Buk» was made with the field of a farm situated in the Militia-controlled locality of Pervomayskoye. The site of the missile launch was under control of the rebels’.

According to the Dutch public prosecutor, ‘It is confirmed by the US data which estimated that the launch position was 6 kilometers to the south from Snezhnoye’.

The international group carrying out the investigation, consists of experts from Australia, Belgium, Malaysia and Ukraine. There are no Russian representatives among them. The group is led by a representative of the Netherlands.
