Statement

I have addressed you repeatedly, stating that the inaction of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies with regard to Ukrainian Nazis has created the conditions for them to carry out political harassment, vigilantism, and murder against journalists, political figures, and citizens of Ukraine, whose political views and values do not coincide with their Nazi ideology. There are countless examples, from the May 2, 2014 tragedy in Odessa to the murders of O. Buzyna, O. Kalashnikov, P. Sheremet, and others.

The European values about freedom of speech, the right to opposition activities, freedom of expression and political pluralism, declared by the Ukrainian authorities, have turned out, in fact, to be empty words, false promises to cover the monstrous reality of lawlessness and impunity of Ukrainian Nazis, inactivity of the law enforcement agencies for the protection of constitutional and convention rights and freedoms of citizens of Ukraine, including opposition politicians.

On May 4 of this year, on the eve of the celebration of the Great Victory, I personally sent to your addresses an appeal with a demand to protect our rights and freedoms, and even our lives, from the physical violence of the Nazis, threats of which had been openly declared in the media, which I indicated in my appeal.

Despite my appeal, again no measures were taken by the law enforcement agencies.

As a result, on May 9, at 7.35, a group of people who presented themselves as the «National Corps» began to ring at my door, demanding that I open it. They demanded that I not participate in today's mass actions and stop supporting the Russian world. Calls and threats of the Nazis sounded continuously. I called the police which arrived an hour later and recorded that the door of my apartment was covered with insulting inscriptions and the Nazis continued to block it.

On the same day of May 9, at 8 am, a group of 15 militants attacked my deputy, a MP of Ukraine of the 1, 2 and 3 convocations, Vladimir Marchenko. First, they blocked the exit from the house, where Marchenko lives with his family, and then, physically pushing the concierge, broke into the house, went up to the floor where Marchenko's apartment is situated. They started to ring at the door with the demand to open it, then they turned off the light and started breaking the door, also trying to break the lock. The door was painted with some kind of toxic paints, the smell from which (or from some gases) went to the apartment. At that time, apart from Vladimir Romanovich, his wife and daughter, there were two minor granddaughters of his, who, of course, were very frightened.

Vladimir Marchenko was forced to call the police. Half an hour later, one man arrived who was absolutely unable to lift the blockade and protect the family of V.Marchenko from Nazi threats and insults, and to provide all members of his family with freedom of movement. Could it be that the police did not have such tasks at all ?!

I demand an immediate investigation of the terrorist acts committed against me and Marchenko, and bringing both the organizers and the perpetrators of these atrocities to criminal responsibility. I demand that our rights and freedoms, including security, be ensured.

Consider this statement of mine to be an official statement to the police from me personally and from Vladimir Romanovich Marchenko.

Chairman of the PSPU Natalia Vitrenko
