Lugansk Situation Report, 24.10.2016

The situation in the zone of responsibility of the LPR People’s Militia has aggravated.

Over the past day, the Ukrainian punishers six times shelled the positions of our units in the area of the localities Raevka, Maryevka, Krasny Yar, Kalinovka and Vesyolaya Gora. The fire was opened from 82 and 120mm mortars, with 24 mortar shells launched. There was also opened fire from infantry fighting vehicles, an anti-tank missile complex, automatic grenade launchers and small arms.

As a result of the shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the locality of Raevka, the Slavyanoserbsky region, a civilian born in 1958 received severe wounds and burns and, subsequently, was delivered to a hospital in Lugansk.

There are no casualties among the LPR People’s Militia soldiers.

The Ukrainian command continues to amass weapons and equipment in the area of the so-called ATO. According to local residents, in the locality of Rubezhnoye arrived several military convoys with the AFU weapons, military equipment and personnel. In one of the convoys there was noted wheeled and light armored equipment. The amount of the arrived equipment is being clarified.

It was found out that in the area of the locality of Bolotennoye arrived two infantry fighting vehicles BMP-1. In addition, there are three infantry fighting vehicles BMP-2 on the positions of the 3rd battalion of the 93rd brigade of the AFU, the west of the locality of Sokolniky, in the area of a tuberculosis hospital.

In addition to amassing the equipment, the enemy continues to equip new positions and fortify already existing ones. Two kilometers to the east from the locality of Novozvanovka, there is noted the equipping, in engineering terms, with a crane and an excavator, of a platoon stronghold of the 10th separate mechanized infantry battalion of the 59th separate mechanized brigade.

We also continue to receive the information about non-combat losses in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, we found that the 54th separate mechanized brigade had suffered unretrievable loses of two men killed as a result of the careless handling of weapons. In addition, it was found that the provision of the units with petroleum products, medicines and clothing is extremely unsatisfactory, as evidenced by volunteer organizations having to assist the military of the brigade.

All these facts are a further proof that the Ukrainian side is unwilling to peacefully resolve the situation in Donbass, and ignores all the agreements reached by the trilateral Contact group in Minsk.

Once again I would like to state that the LPR People's Militia strictly observes the Minsk Agreements but, in the event of their failure by the Ukrainian side, is ready to act decisively.
