The National Police of Ukraine announced that the «Savchenko’s law» applies to 49,000 inmates, 8,700 of which have already been released.

They are convicted thieves and criminal authorities.

This law requires to count a day of pre-trial imprisonment for two.

The Verkhovnaya Rada tried to address a number of amendments to the law, but the MPs failed the vote for them. In the debate the author of the law, Nadezhda Savchenko, criticized colleagues, accused them of political speculation and unwillingness to act «justly» against prisoners and called the MPs «rams».
