Donetsk Situation Report, 24.10.2018

For the past day, there have been recorded NINETEEN ceasefire violations by the enemy who has shelled the areas of TWELVE settlements.

In the Gorlovka direction, from the positions of the 72nd motorized and 58th motorized infantry brigades, under the command of the war criminals TATUS and DRAPATOV respectively, the enemy shelled the areas of the settlements of ZAYTSEVO, DOLOMITNOYE with grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms. There was also noted activation of the enemy snipers.

In the Donetsk direction, the military of the 92nd and 28th motorized brigades, under the command of KOKOREV and MARCHENKO respectively, as well as the 56th motorized infantry brigade, under the command of IVANOV, used 82-mm mortars, infantry fighting vehicles weapons, grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms in shelling the areas of the settlements of VASILYEVKA, YASINOVATAYA, YAKOVLEVKA, SPARTAK, DOKUCHAEVSK, the airport of DONETSK city and the settlement of the TRUDOVSKOYE mine.

In the Mariupol direction, the criminals of the 79th airborne brigade, by order of Colonel KURACH, launched about TWENTY 120 and 82 mm mortar shells on the settlements of KOMINTERNOVO, LENINSKOYE and SAKHANKA, and also used grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms.

In total, over FORTY various ammunition have been launched on the territory of the Republic.

The information on casualties and destructions is being specified.

The Ukrainian military continue to endanger the life and health of civilians of Donbass by indiscriminately mining the territory under their control.

In particular, on October 23, in the area of the settlement of DZERZHINSK, a KrAZ vehicle of the Water-Donbass emergency team, moving to the site of repair works, blew up at a minefield of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The next victims of the bloody regime were two employees of the company, the men miraculously survived but received a contusion and multiple fragmental wounds. This is far from the first case when peaceful residents of Donbass suffer from the explosion of mines set by the Armed Forces of Ukraine without mapping minefields and installing signposts, in violation of Protocol No. 2 of the Geneva Convention of October 10, 1980.

I want to appeal to civilians in the border areas with a request to be extremely careful, avoid traveling along routes in close proximity to the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

We continue to receive information about non-combat losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a result of alcohol and drugs abuse.

In the area of the settlement of DZERZHINSK, during a drunken quarrel that arose between the servicemen of the 15th battalion of the 58th brigade, drinking alcoholic beverages, private Gur received fragmented wounds in the explosion of a grenade thrown by one of his drinking companions into the trench.

In addition, in the area of the settlement STAROGNATOVKA, the serviceman of the 128th brigade, sergeant Yurchenko, was killed during an attempt to disassemble the ammunition to a grenade launcher. According to the results of the proceedings conducted by the military law and order service, it was established that the deceased had been in a state of drug intoxication.

I want to note that the command of the brigades is planning to report these losses as combat ones incurred as a result of shelling by the DPR People’s Militia units.
