Lugansk Situation Report, 26.04.2017

The situation in the zone of responsibility of the LPR People’s Militia has aggravated.

Knowing that Ertuğrul Apakan, the head of the OSCE SMM in Ukraine, is visiting the Republic with a working mission, the Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire 5 times. Moreover, all the attacks were of provocative nature and were carried out from vital objects.

In particular, yesterday, at 21:30, from the area of the gas distributing high pressure plant in the locality of Lobachyovo, the Ukrainian provocateurs conducted fire with grenade launchers and small arms.

When the response fire did not come, they repeated their provocation at 22:30, using a 82mm mortar.

There were also shelled the positions of our units in the area of the localities Logvinovo, Smeloye, Nizhneye Lozovoye and Zhyoltoye. The enemy used in the shelling prohibited 82 and 120mm mortars, infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers of different types and small arms.

The Ukrainian command continues to violate the terms of military equipment placement along the contact line, provided by the Minsk Agreements, as well as uses the ceasefire to build up the military potential of their units in the zone of the so-called ATO.

It was revealed that in the zone of responsibility of the 24th mechanized brigade in the area of the locality of Novozvanovka, at the positions of a temporary stronghold of the 3rd battalion, arrived 3 armored personnel carriers and 2 trucks with ammunition and property.

In addition, in the area of the locality of Popasnaya, we detected the arrival of a reconnaissance unit armed with new optical devices of foreign production. Presumably, this unit is tasked with conducting provocative actions against the Republic and, perhaps, against the OSCE mission observers, in order to consequently put blame for it on the LPR People’s Militia.

In our turn, the LPR People's Militia units continuously carry combat duty, conduct measures to maintain the high combat readiness and continue preparations for the Victory Day parade on May 9.

We do not react to provocations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and strictly observe the «silence regime» introduced on April 1.
