Ombudsman: Three DPR citizens captured by Ukrainian side

Over the past week, the office of the DPR Commissioner for Human Rights registered three allegations of unlawful detention of citizens by the Security Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ombudsman.

‘Over this week, we received three applications of the capture. One application was received from relatives of a former soldier of the Republic, another two applications were classified as detention for political reasons,’ informed the press service.

According to the office, the DPR soldier was arrested near the Elenovka (south of Donetsk) in October 2015. Two others, a novice monk of the Russian Orthodox Church and a supporter of the DPR, were arrested on the same day at the checkpoint in Maryinka and in Krasnoarmeysk. It was found that both men are kept in jail of Artyomovsk.

In addition, over the past week, another soldier of the Republic became the victim of attacks by the Ukrainian military. The Ombudsman office did not record any casualties among the civilian population.

According to the latest data of the Ombudsman, currently 949 people are held in places of detention by the Ukrainian side. Among them, 313 soldiers, 447 civilians detained for political convictions and 149 civilians who are not involved in the conflict in any way. 490 people are listed as missing.
