The Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has sharply criticized the statements of French President Francois Hollande to resolve the conflict in Donbass.

'Speaking at the PACE, Francois Hollande, the French president, expressed absolutely unacceptable things for Ukraine. He demanded, first, the elections in Donbass, and only after them the withdrawal of the occupying Russian forces from the Ukrainian lands and the return of control over the Ukrainian-Russian border to Ukraine. He wants the elections immediately after the ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops,’ he wrote on his Facebook page.

The Minister also said that Hollande’s proposals and interpretation of settlement of the conflict in Donbass were ‘unacceptable and outrageous for any of the Ukrainians’. Avakov relies on the support of his position by the Ukrainian government and the Verkhovnaya Rada.
