22:13, 20.08.2016

Yury Shevchenko, an ex-soldier of the infamous company «Tornado», formed from former criminals and then disbanded for atrocities, admitted his guilt in torture, abuse of power and false imprisonment.

It was stated by Ruslan Kravchenko, a prosecutor of the military prosecutor's office, on the air of the TV channel «112 Ukraine».

He said that Shevchenko had made a confession, and then asked the court to change the measure of restraint for a house arrest. He said that Shevchenko had stayed in the pre-trial detention with a broken leg and testified in court in a video conference.

'As a result, the court made a decision to change the preventive measure for the accused to the clock house arrest. He said that he admitted his guilt in committing crimes under Article 147 (hostage-taking), 126 (beatings and torture), 365 (abuse of power or authority) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and made a confession,’ said Kravchenko.

Ruslan Onishchenko, the odious ex-leader of the «Tornado», locked in jail, confirmed this information on his Facebook page and added that Shevchenko was under the house arrest around the clock and would be guarded.

The period of detention of other members of the "Tornado" was extended until November 4, with the next court hearing scheduled for August 30.
