The head of the administration of Kirovsk, Gennady Kartsev, said that on June 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had shelled the part of the town where a mass event, the launch of a gas pipeline, had been planned.  

‘They shelled just the part where the mass event was supposed to take place - the launch of a gas pipeline. Seven territories were to have come. 

There would have been a lot of people in the stadium, with the solemn welding and launching of the gas pipeline. At 6.00, all the territories just were to have come to the stadium, and at this time the artillery shelling began. We, thank God, managed to stop those columns that were going to us, they stopped in Stakhanov. 

The event, naturally, did not take place. After two shells that landed in the center of the town, they started to shell chaotically on the entire town and not aimlessly, they aimed at social objects. 

A kindergarten was damaged, and the residential sector. They aimed at where there might be a large number of people,’ said Gennady Kartsev.
