At a missile strike distance: an American destroyer disrupted a parade in St. Petersburg

23:55, 07.05.2017

The ships of the Baltic fleet suddenly left the water area of the Neva because of the destroyer of the US Navy, which approached the inland waters of Russia to a distance sufficient for a potential missile attack. This is reported by the publication «Fontanka».

After the departure of the ships, the Corvette Stoiky was on duty to repel a probable missile strike from a USS Carney (DDG-64) destroyer of the Arly Burke type.

The «Fontanka» reports that two trawlers and a small anti-submarine ship «Zelenodolsk» stayed moored at the floating berth at the Lieutenant Schmidt embankment, however, by the evening of May 6, they also left.

In Kronstadt, where the Leningrad naval base is stationed, according to the «Fontanka» data, ammunition was loaded on three submarines and a missile boat «Morshansk». The squadron went to the Baltic Sea. By the evening, the corvette «Steady» and the small anti-submarine «Urengoy» returned and embarked on a raid off the island of Kotlin. On the «Stoiky» an air defense complex was launched.

The Defense Ministry of Russia has not commented on the situation, but the naval parade in St. Petersburg has been canceled.
