In Ukraine, people survive on $ 1.8 a day

In accordance with United Nations standards, in the world the poverty line is set at $ 5 a day. In Ukraine, in accordance with the laws, the subsistence minimum is 1.8 dollars a day, which is about 3 times less than the established norms.

‘According to the international standards, the poverty begins if a person has a monthly sum of less than $ 150 (not only for food, but also for utilities expenses, travel and so on). In Ukraine, the official living wage is 1,176 UAH. According to the the official exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine, it is $ 55,’ says the publication.

The publication cites the honored doctor of Ukraine, Galina Anokhin.

‘Ukrainians are in a state of latent starvation. Mi will have problems with the health of the younger generation in the near future’. 

According to experts, 80% of Ukrainians live below the poverty line, that is, they have less cash security than the norms established by the UN and international standards.
