Shifting the focus of protest to returning to the Constitution of 2004, i.e. the parliamentary-presidential form of governing

18:20, 04.02.2014
Vitaly Klitschko, the UDAR fraction leader, urged the Supreme Rada to vote for returning to the Constitution of 2004. His proposal was supported by Arseny Yatsenyuk, the Batkivschyna leader. Yulia Timoshenko, though, passed a letter from prison, in which she urged the Batkivschyna fraction to refuse to return to the Constitution of 2004 and prepare to the presidential elections. The President Yanukovich agreed on the constitutional changes but only in the legal field, which might take several months. The opposition considered such an approach unacceptable.
