Russia will vote against allocation of IMF loan to Ukraine

23:49, 12.09.2016Economics

Russia intends to vote against granting Ukraine another tranche of the International Monetary Fund.

This was stated by the Russian Finance Minister, Anton Siluanov.

According to Siluanov, this is due to the public debt of Ukraine to Russia.

The Russian minister said that the IMF's positive decision ‘creates the conditions for such precedents in the future’.

The issue of the next tranche of the loan is included in the agenda of the board meeting of the International Monetary Fund of September 14. Last November, Ukraine completed the restructuring of the $ 15 billion public and publicly guaranteed debt. This leaves unresolved the matter of the $ 3 billion debt of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.

Siluanov believes that Ukraine's debt ‘could give a large positive effect on the Russian economy’.
