The OSCE special monitoring mission (SMM) reported that they had recorded in the Donetsk region the largest, since the autumn of last year, the number of ceasefire violations, including those with the use of weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.

‘The SMM continues to record violations of the ceasefire, in particular, this Friday there was recorded the largest number of violations since the autumn,’ said the first deputy head of the mission Alexander Hug.

‘We also observe the presence and use of weapons which should have been withdrawn long ago. It is the duty of the parties, rather than of the SMM; it is the parties responsible for the implementation of what they signed, in particular, the observance of the ceasefire and the withdrawal of weapons. The SMM works with all those involved, calling on the parties to fulfill the obligations they took on in Minsk. The SMM, within its mandate, is ready to support the parties and promote a dialogue between them,’ says the statement of the mission.
