The State Department announced persona non grata 35 Russian diplomats. This is announced in a statement of the office, released by its press service. 

This automatically means the expulsion of said persons. The list of them is not included in the statement.

‘These actions are taken in response to the persecution of American diplomats by the Russians and the actions on the part of these diplomats (Russian - TASS) who, according to our estimates, do not meet the diplomatic practice,’ said a senior US official earlier.

According to the office, there are also closed two Russian facility in Maryland and New York. They might be the embassy cottages. The diplomats are given 72 hours to pack. 

Earlier, it was reported that Washington was imposing new sanctions against Moscow due to the hacker attacks on the American institutions, attributed to it.
