Coal from the Republics of Donbass is already supplied to the territory of Ukraine, but via Russia and at double price. This was stated by the former Minister of Economy, Viktor Suslov, on the TV channel 112. 

According to him, it is only Ukraine that is losing in the blockade of Donbass.

‘Look at the reports of our news agencies. Yesterday, the «Unian" reported that the import of coal from Russia had sharply increased. Right after that, they report that hundreds of carriages with coal had left from Donetsk for Russia. We do not doubt that the same Donetsk coal has come to Ukraine via Russia, but at approximately double price. Ukraine will pay two times as much for this coal. Therefore, it is quite obvious who has won here, and who has lost,’ said Suslov. 

Vladimir Fesenko, the political analyst close to the president, added that Ukraine could start official purchases of Donetsk coal under the guise of South African coal. 

‘We will have to buy coal abroad. I do not exclude that, like with gas, it may not even be Russian, but Donetsk coal, the same Donetsk anthracite, but under the sign of South African coal. This has already happened before, and I do not exclude that it will happen again and somebody will profit from it,’ said Fesenko.
