In June 2016, in the conflict zone in Donbass there were recorded the greatest losses among the civilian population since August 2015.

It was reported in the monthly "Humanitarian Bulletin" on Ukraine of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), reports Deutsche Welle.

In June, in the zone of conflict, intense fighting was going on, the report stated. As a result, 12 people were killed and 57 wounded. Four deaths and 37 injuries occurred as a result of attacks from various artillery systems, including those of calibers prohibited by the Minsk Agreements.

It is also stated that the 19 incidents (5 deaths and 14 injuries) occurred due to the fact that people hit mines, explosive remnants of munitions and improvised explosive devices.

The situation tends to aggravate during the past two weeks, since the parties to the conflict are trying to occupy territories in the buffer zone and, in some places, are moving their positions so that the distance between them decreases, in particular in Stanitsa Luganskaya and Zaitsevo, the bulletin says.

The main "hot spots" of the conflict remain the western and northern outskirts of Donetsk, the area near the Donetsk airport, Staromikhaylovka, Gorlovka, Ozeryanovka, Zaitsevo, Yasinovataya, Spartak, Dokuchaevsk, Kominternovo, Sakhanka, Leninskoye, Novotroitskoye, Avdeevka, Maryinka, Stanitsa Luganskaya, Trekhizbenka and Debaltsevo.

On the whole, according to the OCHA, since the beginning of the conflict 9,740 people have died in Ukraine. Another 21,880 have been injured. Up to two thousands of the victims were civilians.

The number of attacks in Donbass over the past week tripled, reported the deputy chairman of the OSCE SMM Alexander Hug.
