22:23, 27.06.2017

In the Solomenskiy district of Kiev, the head of the Reserve of the Main Intelligence Office of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, Maxim Shapoval, was killed in the explosion of a Mercedes car.

The explosion of the car occurred next to the building of the Supreme Qualification Commission of Judges (SQCJ), and two members of the SQCJ witnessed the explosion.

According to the police, the car was registered as belonging to Dmitry Romas, born in 1987, but it was used by the head of the Reserve of the Main Intelligence Office of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, Maxim Shapoval.

On the site of the explosion, there was a huge amount of police and people in plainclothes, apparently, from the SBU.

Near the place of the explosion is a car park, on which a lot of vehicles were damaged by the fragments. The police do not allow the car owners to get there, with some of them indignant and requiring compensation.

At the site, there are also at least three dozen journalists, whom the police can hardly drive away from the line of cordon. In the crowd of journalists, different versions of what had happened was voiced, but most were confident that this was a terrorist attack.

‘This is a response from the separatists. They take revenge for theirs,’ said the journalists.

The Verkhovnaya Rada MP, Anton Gerashchenko, said on the air of the Ukrainian TV that undermining the car had been a revenge.

‘This is a terrorist act, it may be an act of retribution and those who attempted it, knew perfectly well that this man was an important employee in the defense and security of Ukraine,’ said Gerashchenko.

The police in no way commented on the situation, promising to provide the information later.
