Rolling blackouts caused by coal shortage lead to Ukrainian riots

01:27, 03.03.2017

Once Donbass blockade leads to real rolling blackouts or stopping of TPPs, a riot could happen in Ukraine. This was stated by sociologist Nikolai Golovakha on the air of the «UkrLife».

According to him, the Ukrainians are bystanders of the blockade processes as long as it does not concern them personally.

‘Now, because people are frustrated, they're watching it calmly. But as soon as blackouts really start, there will be a new round of inflation, and the situation will become unpredictable. If you try to frighten them, saying, ‘Here, look at them, if they do not leave, then you will have no light’, then people will say, ‘Well, let's see what will happen’. But then begins an unpredictable situation,’ warned Golovakha.

The experts said that rolling blackouts as a result of blocking the supply of coal from the territory uncontrolled by Kiev, would affect all regions of Ukraine and start much earlier than the warehouses ran out of coal.
