The Head of the People's Republic of Donetsk, Alexander Zakharchenko called ‘the classic of psychiatry’ the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the fact that the residents of Donbass will be given passports and civil status acts directly on the contact line. According to the leader of the Republic, this decision is too late and does not make sense as Donbass is no longer a part of Ukraine.

‘Some of the decisions taken by the Cabinet, are the classic of psychiatry. Two and a half years have passed, and then they make the decision to grant us passports. They first made a decision to create on the contact line certain markets that would sell cheap medicines, but the idea lived for three or four days and then failed failed. After that, they made a number of other decisions such as lightweight for refugee status, and so on, which also failed.

Ukraine begins to realize that Donbass is completely departing from it, and this is due to the fact that we have begun to issue our own passports. We have already issued about forty thousand passports, so on the part of Ukraine, it is a belated decision which, like many others, will fail,’ he said. 

Zakharchenko noted the absurdity of this idea against the background of the daily shelling by the AFU. 

‘How do they see it? «In the morning we shell Donetsk, Gorlovka, the Novoazovsk direction, and in the afternoon we begin to issue passports to you»? The very idea is ridiculous by its idiocy. Like Cabinet, like decisions,’ he emphasized.
