The leader of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko announced the start of the primaries. It is said in a statement released by the press service of the Head of the Republic.

The primaries is a response of Donbass to the continuing sabotage of the implementation of the Minsk Agreements on the part of Ukraine, said experts interviewed by The PolitNavigator. As it is known, the Verkhovnaya Rada refuses to adopt the election law in the LDPR, agreed with the Republics.

‘This is a demonstration to the world that on the territory of the DPR may be held democratic, open elections to the highest standards, including those of the OSCE. This does not in any way contradict the Minsk Agreements. We understand that now there will be a lot of comments on the part of Ukraine, which it is unacceptable and just bad. Ukraine has done absolutely nothing to adopt a law on elections in the DPR and LPR, and thus has greatly contributed to the fact that the primaries have now been declared on the territory of the DPR. In case Ukraine continues to sabotage the process, the young republic will simply have nothing left to do but hold elections on their territories,’ said the expert of the Institute of CIS Denis Denisov.

‘The primaries is an extremely important mechanism for the DPR. Obviously, there will be a very negative attitude to it in Kiev. For them, the elections in the DPR is a story that can not be realised because they are set to anything, but not to the performance of the Minsk Agreements. Unlike Kiev, which torpedoes the Agreements, Donetsk is absolutely fully prepared to implement them,’ said the Russian analyst and radio host Armen Gasparyan.
